The manufacturing process involves using Terne steel which is a 50/50 tin/zinc alloy bonded to the steel sheets providing protection in and outside the tank. This allows the internal piping to be soldered without damaging the corrosion protection. These tanks do not need to be painted prior to install.

The interior tubing is Terne coated steel unlike the original which used plastic fittings and hose.
